Service Description

Every exceptional scent detection dog starts with strong foundations. Earth is where instinct becomes understanding, curiosity becomes purpose, and handler and dog begin learning to work as one. Whether you're completely new to scentwork or looking to build a stronger training foundation, this level introduces the essential skills that every successful detection team relies on. Through carefully structured exercises, you'll develop your dog's confidence, improve communication and begin creating a clear indication on target odours. Over the course of the programme you'll explore odour imprinting, indication training, search games and your first structured searches. More importantly, you'll begin building a partnership based on trust, understanding and teamwork—skills that will support every stage of your scentwork journey. Cancellation Policy

House of K9 Scentwork Course Policy By booking onto a House of K9 Scentwork course, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Attendance & Refunds Course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Missed sessions cannot be refunded, rescheduled or carried forward. If House of K9 cancels a session, an alternative date will be provided where possible. Training Between Sessions Progress depends on consistent practice outside of class. Weekly homework is provided and handlers are encouraged to complete it before the next session. Equipment Specialist training tools are not required for scentwork. However, the correct and fair use of suitable training equipment is permitted if it helps the handler feel more comfortable and maintain safe control of their dog. House of K9 reserves the right to request changes to any equipment deemed unsafe or inappropriate. Class Etiquette Dogs must remain on lead unless instructed otherwise. There is no dog-to-dog interaction during class. Do not allow your dog to approach another dog. Please do not touch, feed or interact with another person's dog. Respect other handlers' space and follow the instructor's guidance at all times. Photography & WhatsApp A course WhatsApp group will be created to share homework, updates and course information. Photos and videos may be taken during sessions for House of K9's social media and promotional material. Please notify us before the course begins if you do not wish to appear in photographs or videos. Suitability for Group Classes Scentwork is suitable for most dogs, including many reactive or nervous dogs. However, dogs must be able to work safely within a group environment. If your dog's behaviour or reactivity prevents them from learning effectively or impacts the experience of others, House of K9 may recommend one-to-one training before returning to a group class. Removal from Course House of K9 reserves the right to refuse entry to, or remove, any dog or handler from a course without refund if their behaviour is considered unsafe, disruptive, abusive, or detrimental to the welfare, safety or learning experience of others. By attending, you confirm you have read and agree to these terms and conditions.
